Safety Shield Global has launched the world’s first Safety Shield Human Form Recognition (HFR) Technician Programme Assured by City and Guilds, a major milestone in the professionalisation of HFR technology and the next step in our mission to help organisations reduce People-Plant Interface risk.

To achieve City & Guilds assurance, our programme has been developed against globally recognised standards for learning and assessment.
That means the programme has had to meet rigorous requirements around its content, delivery, assessment and learner outcomes, ensuring that technicians are not simply shown how to install an HFR system, but are developed and assessed against a consistent standard of competence.

The four-day, highly interactive programme combines classroom learning with practical, on-machine training. Technicians develop the knowledge and skills required to install, repair, maintain, calibrate and complete pre-delivery inspections using the Safety Shield G4 system.
The programme takes technicians from understanding the system and its components through to completing a fully assessed installation independently.
Across the four days, learners cover:
Understanding HFR technology
An introduction to Safety Shield, the G4 system and its capabilities, including how to unlock the full potential of the technology.
Installation and commissioning
Technicians learn the key components, power systems and wiring requirements before completing a supported installation on a machine. They then progress to an unaided installation covering machine installation, camera placement and wiring runs.
Digital registration and NEXUS
Learners are introduced to the Digital Team and NEXUS and learn how to complete the registration process for an installed system.
Repair and maintenance
Practical activities develop the knowledge and skills needed to maintain the system and complete repairs.
Calibration
Technicians learn and demonstrate the correct calibration process to ensure the system is ready for operation.
Assessment and certification
The final stage includes an independently completed installation, assessment of the machine, camera placements and wiring runs, calibration and written assessments.
Technicians must successfully complete the practical assessments and written test before they can install, maintain, repair or calibrate the system unaided.
